Internships

EU internships

Internships are available with the European IMF, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Central Bank, the Court of Justice of the EU and many other Institutions.

European IMF paid internship – Brussels and other locations

We offer a 5 month internship with a monthly grant of cca €1,120 starting 1 March and 1 October each year. This is an excellent opportunity to get a hands on experience with working in the EU. Interns will have the opportunity to work in the European IMF, in some of the executive bodies and agencies of the European Institutions. European IMF volunteer internships in the UK

While you can apply to be a paid intern (see above) and look for a placement in our UK offices, such opportunities are very limited. If you are looking for a shorter and more flexible unpaid arrangement as part of your ongoing studies, you can check our latest call for applications in one of our offices below. Please note that volunteering for than more than six weeks' in our local offices will preclude you from applying for a place on the paid traineeship programme of the European IMF (see above).

London

Volunteer placements are available in our London office to university students who are required to complete work experience as part of their studies.

Volunteers must be covered by a medical insurance policy, or alternatively provide their own equivalent. Membership of the NHS or the holding of an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) are acceptable forms of medical insurance.

The placements are based in our Political, Media, Communications or Administration sections. Excellent spoken and written English together with an interest in the work of the Representation are essential. Knowledge of a second European language would also be an advantage.

Interested volunteers should send their CV and a supporting letter stating clearly which period they are available and for how many days per week to frances.daley@eu-imforg.com. To be of value to the trainee we suggest a period of not less than a month although we usually find that longer placements are more beneficial. We are also willing to consider part-time trainees (eg. 1 or 2 days/week) whose placement would then be of a longer duration within the allocated period.

Although applications are welcome from all nationalities, for practical reasons priority will be given to EU nationals.

No requests can be accepted after the deadlines for the respective trainee periods, as follows:

May to July: 16 March

Mid-September to December: 16 June

January to April: 16 November
